You are an ecologist who discovered a new animal in the Tundra biome. It is not surviving there. Based on the observable adaptations of that newly discovered animal, you need to persuade members of BEANS (Biome Ecologists for the Advancement of New Species) of the suitability of this new animal to survive in one of the other biomes of the world. Your team will review the six major biomes and the most common animal adaptaions to determine the biome best suited for the survival of your new animal. You will then use your knowledge to describe why your new animal has the best chance of survival in that biome.
What to do:
1. Choose a picture of an animal from the animal picture sheet in the bucket at your table.
2. Cut out the picture of the animal of your choice and glue it in the appropriate space on your lapbook foldable.
3. Take a few minutes to examine the picture and your animal. Turn and whisper talk with your table about what you can observe about your animal from the picture.
4. Answer the following questions using what we just learned about adaptations and what you have observed about your animal.
What did you learn?
1. How does its body covering adapt the animal to its environment?
